Programs

We believe education is an important tool in the fight to achieve gender equity. Our Keep Pokot Girls in School Mentorship Program provides full tuition for 13 girls to attend Cheposekek Girl's High School. The girls are supported academically, socially and mentally with mentoring sessions, sexual and reproductive health education and anti-GBV, FGM/C, and early marriage trainings. We also believe in the importance of economic empowerment. The girls are exposed to trades through beading, cooking, baking, and farming workshops. Lastly we host an Annual Girls Empowerment Retreat to foster community and further support the girls' academic success.

We partner with schools and community members to facilitate trainings and workshops around sexual and reproductive health education, menstrual hygiene management, and the prevention of early marriage, GBV and FGM/C. By educating the broader community and raising awareness about these issues, we create allies in the fight for gender equity.

In Kenya, 65% of women and girls are unable to afford sanitary pads. A study found that 95% of menstruating girls misses 1 to 3 school days. We believe that no girl child should miss school due to a lack of sanitary pads. We host a bi-annual pad drives so that we can supply pads to all girls attending Cheposekek High School and distribute pads to the schools we visit. We facilitate menstrual health and hygiene education so that girls have the knowledge and resources to manage their periods with dignity.
